A fast start and a strong finish gave K.J. Choi the round he was looking for Saturday in the Sony Open at Honolulu.

Choi got up and down from the bunker on the par-five 18th to cap a four-under-par 66, giving him a four-shot lead going into the final round as he tries to become the first outright wire-to-wire winner at Waialae in eight years. He is at 15-under 195.

Rookie Tim Wilkinson, playing in only his third PGA Tour event, birdied seven of his first 11 holes and finished with an eight-under 62 for the best round of the week. He is in second place.

Kevin Na, who started the third round two shots behind, couldn’t keep up with Choi’s birdie-birdie start and only a pair of birdies on the final four holes left him in the hunt. He shot 69 and was at 10-under 210 with Stephen Marino (68).

Grange wins slalom to match Killy’s feat

Jean-Baptiste Grange confirmed his status as a rising star, winning a World Cup slalom to match Jean-Claude Killy as the only skiers to win two different races on the Lauberhorn course at Wengen, Switzerland, in the same year.

Grange won for the second time in two days, opening up a lead on the first leg and then easily holding off Jens Byggmark in the second to finish with a combined time of 1 minute 34.81 seconds.

Byggmark was 0.80 of a second behind. Ted Ligety, of Park City, Utah, was third, another 0.09 back. Bode Miller, of Bretton Woods, N.H., finished fifth in 1:36.25.

With his super-combi victory Friday, Grange matched Killy’s 1967 victories in the Lauberhorn downhill and slalom.

It was Miller’s best finish in a World Cup slalom since winning at Sestriere, Italy, on Dec. 13, 2004 -- the season he became the first American to win the overall title in more than two decades.

Elisabeth Goergl waited eight years and 146 World Cup events for her first victory. She did it by winning a giant slalom at Maribor, Slovenia, to become the 100th Austrian skier to win a World Cup title.

Goergl, who led after the first leg, finished with a two-run combined time of 2:38.49. Italians were 2-3 as Manuela Moelgg was second in 2:38.98 and Denise Karbon third in 2:40.21. Lindsey Vonn of Vail, Colo., finished 13th.

Tom Hilde of Norway won his first World Cup ski jumping title of the season in an event limited to one jump because of rain at Val di Fiemme, Italy. He won with 133.9 points and a jump of 130.5 meters. Sigurd Pettersen was second with 133.5 points and Wolfgang Loitzl was third with 132.7 points.

The father of Arkansas star Darren McFadden denied a report that he has sent paperwork to the NFL so his son can make himself available for the draft.

ESPN.com, citing unidentified sources, reported that Graylon McFadden provided the relevant paperwork.

“I hate to be saying anything because all these false stories and everything are floating around,” Graylon McFadden told the Associated Press. “But no I didn’t -- and that’s all I’ve got to say.”

Darren McFadden, a junior tailback, was the Heisman Trophy runner-up in 2006 and 2007. He’s second on the Southeastern Conference’s single-season and career rushing lists after gaining 1,830 yards this season and 4,590 during his three-year career.

Report: Cardinals agree to trade Rolen for Glaus

The St. Louis Cardinals have reached agreement on a trade with Toronto that will send third baseman Scott Rolen to the Blue Jays for third baseman Troy Glaus, several major league sources told ESPN.com.

The deal is contingent upon the two players passing physical exams Monday, sources said.

According to a source with knowledge of the trade, the Cardinals signed off on the deal only after Glaus agreed to exercise his $11.25-million option for 2009.

St. Louis management didn’t want to give up three years of Rolen for only one year of Glaus, so Glaus had to commit to the option year as part of the deal.
