Dorn’s work as a judge praised
Re “Public official faces 4 felony counts,” June 27
I am sorry to hear that Inglewood Mayor Roosevelt Dorn faces charges in financial issues, and I disagree with the tone of the last few paragraphs regarding his stint as a judge in the Los Angeles Juvenile Court system.
I belonged to a support group of parents called “Because I Love You” who had problems with their children. Dorn was one of the very few judges who could be counted on to hold our children accountable for their actions. He set goals, monitored their progress, provided structure and limits and gave consequences when the system failed to do so.
Today, there are many law-abiding, productive adults and their parents who are extremely grateful to Dorn.
