The Defense Department last week identified the following American military personnel killed in Afghanistan and Iraq:

Douglas J. Bull, 29, of Wilkes-Barre, Pa.; sergeant, Army. Bull died Tuesday at Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan, of injuries suffered when his vehicle struck a roadside bomb in Chow Kay Valley. He was assigned to the Special Troops Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Steven J. Chevalier, 35, of Flint, Mich.; sergeant first class, Army. Chevalier died Wednesday in Balad, Iraq, of injuries suffered in a grenade attack on his vehicle in Samarra. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) at Ft. Campbell, Ky.

Daniel Farkas, 42, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; first lieutenant, Army National Guard. Farkas died July 4 of non-combat-related injuries at Camp Phoenix in Kabul, Afghanistan. A New York Police Department lieutenant, he was assigned to the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team in Syracuse, N.Y.

Byron J. Fouty, 19, of Waterford, Mich.; private first class, Army. Fouty was one of two soldiers missing in Iraq for more than a year whose bodies were found buried in the open desert Tuesday near Jurf al-Sakhr. A captured suspect led soldiers to the location. The remains were identified by the Armed Forces Medical Examiner in Dover, Del. The soldiers were among three kidnapped in an ambush south of Baghdad on May 12, 2007. The third soldier’s body was found in the Euphrates River days after the abduction. Fouty was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) at Ft. Drum, N.Y.

Alex R. Jimenez, 25, of Lawrence, Mass.; sergeant, Army. William L. McMillan III, 22, of Lexington, Ky.; specialist, Army. McMillan was killed Tuesday when his vehicle struck a roadside bomb in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Anthony L. Woodham, 37, of Rogers, Ark.; sergeant first class, Army National Guard. Woodham was electrocuted July 5 in a vehicle maintenance area at Camp Adder in Tallil, Iraq, south of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 39th Brigade Support Battalion, 39th Infantry Brigade Combat Team in Heber Springs, Ark.
