Dumais wins gold at diving event

Troy Dumais won the gold medal in the men’s three-meter springboard final at the National Diving Championships on Sunday at the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center in Pasadena.
Dumais finished with a final score of 521.90, nearly 40 points better than the runner-up, Kristian Ipsen. Dumais, who grew up in Ventura, will be competing in his third Olympics next month in Beijing.
In the women’s 10-meter platform event, Cassandra Cardinell, 26, won the gold medal in her final diving competition with a score of 335.45.
Coming in second was Laura Wilkinson, who finished with a score of 328.40 and says she is ready for Beijing.
“I want to go out and take it . . . be aggressive,” she said.
In the men’s synchronized three-meter final, Christopher Colwill, 23, and Jevon Tarantino, 24, won the gold medal with a total score of 433.44. The two, who have a combined 12 years of national team experience, also will be competing at the Beijing Games.
