This weekend offers exceptional film choices. On Friday and Saturday, as well as on the following two weekends, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art is showing the seven-hour Russian-language version of Sergei Bondarchuk’s “War and Peace,” which won the 1968 Oscar in its six-hour version, which was dubbed for U.S. release. Playing tonight only at the Getty Center is a restored version of photographer Edward Curtis’ 1914 “In the Land of the Head Hunters,” the first film to exclusively star indigenous peoples. It will be accompanied by the UCLA Philharmonia and a traditional dance performance.
