Gay ceremony to be investigated
The bishop of London said he would order an investigation into whether two gay priests exchanged rings and vows in a church ceremony, violating Anglican guidelines.
The Revs. Peter Cowell and David Lord walked down the aisle in a May 31 service, the Sunday Telegraph reported.
The bishop, the Right Rev. Richard Chartres, said such services are not authorized in the Church of England. Britain officially recognizes civil partnerships, but church guidelines say clergy should not bless such unions.
The ceremony was not technically a marriage.
