Troy Dumais became the first diver to make the U.S. Olympic team.

Dumais completed a dominating performance in the 3-meter springboard Saturday at the trials in Indianapolis.

The 28-year-old from Ventura will be making his third trip to the Olympics. He was sixth in the event at Sydney and Athens.

Only the trials winner is awarded a spot on the team. Chris Colwill, who finished second, will be favored for his first Olympic berth when the rest of the squad is named next month in Tennessee.

Already spotted a 30-point head start because of his international success, Dumais earned a couple of perfect 10s for his second dive, overcame a bit of a wobble on his next-to-last attempt and finished with 1,552.90 points over three rounds.

Christina Loukas became the second member of the team for the Beijing Games by winning the women’s 3-meter springboard. She finished with 1,092.10 points, well ahead of runner-up Nancilea Foster (1,002.85).

Loukas, 22, a three-time Big Ten diver of the year at Indiana, had enough points to win before her last dive, but she hit it for a string of 9s and 9.5s.
