New York Yankees 10, at Pittsburgh 0: Joba Chamberlain was dominant in his first major league win as a starter, regularly hitting 99 mph while striking out seven and walking one in 6 2/3 innings. Derek Jeter scored three runs and Bobby Abreu had a three-run homer.

at Boston 5, Arizona 0: The Red Sox’s Tim Wakefield, 41, outdueled Randy Johnson, 44. Wakefield gave up two hits in seven innings, striking out six and walking one. Johnson went six innings, giving up two runs and eight hits with five strikeouts and two walks.

Minnesota 9, at San Diego 3: Greg Maddux’s winless streak reached nine starts, the second-longest drought of his career, in the Twins’ eighth straight victory. Maddux (3-6) squandered an early 3-0 lead and fell to 0-3 in nine starts since his last win, May 10 against Colorado.

at Kansas City 4, Colorado 2: Luke Hochevar (5-5) pitched a career-high eight innings, Ross Gload drove in two runs and the Royals won their fifth straight while improving to a major-league best 12-3 in interleague play. Hochevar held the Rockies to two runs and seven hits.

at Chicago Cubs 7, Baltimore 4: Geovany Soto drove in three runs, Jim Edmonds homered and the Cubs jumped on spot starter Matt Albers (3-3). Albers replaced Brian Burres (illness) and left with shoulder discomfort after giving up four runs in a third of an inning.

at Detroit 8, St. Louis 7: Gary Sheffield’s RBI single in the bottom of the ninth lifted the Tigers in a game that included a nearly 2 1/2 -hour rain delay. Sheffield and Carlos Guillen each had four hits for Detroit. Rick Ankiel homered twice for St. Louis.

at New York Mets 8, Seattle 2: David Wright homered in his first two at-bats a night after getting his first day off this season, helping John Maine (8-5) and the Mets rebound from two lackluster losses to the lowly Mariners. Maine didn’t give up a hit until the fifth inning.

Cincinnati 6, at Toronto 5 (10 innings): Jay Bruce drove in the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly in the 10th inning and Ken Griffey hit his 602nd career home run for the Reds. Toronto dropped to 2-3 under new Manager Cito Gaston. The Blue Jays also fell to 6-15 this month.

San Francisco 4, at Cleveland 1: Bouncing back from a two-inning start, Barry Zito (3-11) gave up one run and four hits in 6 2/3 innings to help lift the Giants. He struck out four without a walk. Jose Castillo had three hits, including a home run, for the Giants.

Texas 3, at Houston 2: Max Ramirez got his first two major league hits and the second one -- a two-run homer in the fourth inning -- lifted the Rangers past the Astros. In the ninth inning, Houston’s Miguel Tejada grounded out with the bases loaded to end it.

at Atlanta 4, Milwaukee 2: Kelly Johnson drove in three runs to back Jorge Campillo (3-2) and the Braves rallied to avoid a three-game sweep. Campillo (3-2) had been 0-2 in his previous five starts since winning at Milwaukee on May 29.

Philadelphia 4, at Oakland 0: Kyle Kendrick pitched eight innings, giving up four hits in his longest start, to help the Phillies end a season-long six-game losing streak. Chase Utley, batting second for the first time this season, ended a slump with a four-for-five effort.

Tampa Bay 15, at Florida 3: The Rays scored 10 runs in an inning for the third time during the fifth inning, falling one run short of the franchise record.

at Washington 5, Angels 4: Jesus Flores hit an RBI single with one out in the bottom of the ninth.

at Dodgers 5, Chicago White Sox 0: Gavin Floyd (8-4) fell to 0-3 with a 10.50 ERA against the Dodgers.
