From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Scientists have unearthed a 365-million-year-old fossil of the most primitive four-legged creature in Earth’s history, which should help them better understand the evolution of fish to advanced animals that walk on land.

Although scientists didn’t find the legs or toes of the water-dwelling Ventastega curonica, they were able to deduce that the creature was four-limbed because key parts of its pelvis and shoulders were found.

The report was in the journal Nature on Thursday.
