Student charged in gun incident
Prosecutors on Tuesday charged a 17-year-old student suspected of taking a gun to Blair International Baccalaureate High School last week.
The male student, whose name has not been released, was charged in juvenile court with making criminal threats and possessing a handgun, both felonies, along with a misdemeanor count of possessing live ammunition as a minor, according to Sandi Gibbons, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
Prosecutors also cited factors aggravating the charges, including that the student was armed with a handgun and involved in a gang, Gibbons said.
The 17-year-old was in juvenile custody, Gibbons said, and was scheduled for arraignment late Tuesday.
