Boy, 13, found shot in street, dies

Police are investigating the homicide of a 13-year-old apparent gang member who was found shot on a street Thursday night in Echo Park.
Officer Jay Balgemil said police received a call about 8 p.m. reporting shots in the 800 block of North Bonnie Brae, an area of apartment buildings.
The male victim, whose identity has not been released, was taken to Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, where he died.
Balgemil said markings on the teenager’s hand led officers to believe he was a gang member.
Los Angeles police officers searched late into the night for the gunman.
