at New Jersey 2, Tampa Bay 1 (OT): Patrik Elias scored 4:02 into overtime at Newark, lifting the Devils into first place in the Eastern Conference. The Lightning, the last-place team in the East, is 1-7-2 in its last 10 games.

Edmonton 2, at Columbus 1 (OT): Andrew Cogliano scored 1:53 into overtime as the Oilers held off the Blue Jackets after Dan Fritsche scored for Columbus with eight-tenths of a second remaining in regulation.

at Atlanta 3, Minnesota 2 (SO): Erik Christensen scored the only goal in the shootout and the Thrashers ended an eight-game losing streak. Atlanta’s Johan Hedberg denied Mikko Koivu, Brent Burns and Brian Rolston in the shootout after stopping 37 shots in regulation and the overtime.

San Jose 3, at Chicago 2: Jonathan Cheechoo, Kyle McLaren and Patrick Marleau scored as the Sharks tied a team record with their eighth consecutive victory.

Nashville 2, at Calgary 1 (OT): J.P. Dumont scored 2:13 into overtime, leading the Predators past the Flames.
