Ill lawmaker won’t run again
After a decade in the Legislature, Assemblywoman Nell Soto (D-Pomona) said she would not run for reelection.
Under term limits, Soto, 81, could serve, if reelected, until 2012. She will retire when her current term ends in December, she said. She has missed every Assembly session this year because of illness.
Democratic candidates who have filed to run for her Inland Empire seat in the June primary election include Maurice E. Ayala of Chino, Norma J. Torres of Pomona and Kenneth M. White of Ontario.
