at Edmonton 7, Colorado 5 -- Sam Gagner scored twice and the Oilers edged closer to the Avalanche in the race for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. It was the 11th win in the last 14 outings for Edmonton, three points behind eighth-place Colorado in the Western Conference playoff race. The Avalanche went winless on their three-game trip and have lost four in a row.

at Montreal 3, Boston 2 (SO) -- Saku Koivu scored in the shootout and the Canadiens completed a season-series sweep of the Bruins. Carey Price stopped Zdeno Chara, Phil Kessel and Denis Wideman in the shootout after making 33 saves during regulation and overtime.

Detroit 4, at Columbus 1 -- Pavel Datsyuk set up power-play goals by Nicklas Lidstrom and Henrik Zetterberg and then scored a short-handed tally to lead the Red Wings. The Blue Jackets had only 12 shots, the fewest at home in franchise history.

at Pittsburgh 7, New Jersey 1 -- Evgeni Malkin had two goals and an assist and Ryan Malone scored twice for the Penguins, who took a two-point lead in the Atlantic Division. The Penguins, who scored seven goals for the third time in four home games, remained one point behind Montreal in the race for the top seeding in the Eastern Conference.

at Nashville 2, Chicago 1 (SO) -- Rich Peverley and Alexander Radulov scored in the shootout and the Predators stopped their six-game home skid.

Toronto 5, at Ottawa 4 -- Kyle Wellwood, Alex Steen, Darcy Tucker, Jiri Tlusty and Matt Stajan all scored for the Maple Leafs, winners of four in a row against the Senators.

at Florida 4, Tampa Bay 2 -- Tomas Vokoun stopped 35 shots and the Panthers closed a 6-0-1 homestand. Vokoun (30-26-8) became the second Florida goalie to post 30 wins in a season. The Panthers beat the Lightning for the 12th time in 15 games.

at Calgary 5, Minnesota 4 -- Jarome Iginla notched his seventh NHL hat trick and the Flames moved within one point of the Wild, who lead the Northwest Division.

Ducks 2, at Phoenix 1 -- Teemu Selanne scored twice and Jonas Hiller, playing for the injured Jean-Sebastien Giguere, who sat out because of back spasms, made 30 saves.

Kings 4, at Dallas 2 -- The Kings handed the Stars their fourth loss in a row.
