Man sentenced in killing outside bar
A San Clemente man was sentenced Friday to 36 years to life in prison for fatally stabbing another man after an argument in a bar.
Jose Elias Sandoval, 31, was found guilty earlier this month of second-degree murder in the 2005 slaying of Jason Robinson, 29, also of San Clemente.
Sandoval was playing pingpong with Robinson at the Beach Hut on El Camino Real before they began arguing inside the bar.
Sandoval went home but returned later wearing a ski mask and carrying a 6-inch hunting knife, authorities said. When Robinson went outside to smoke, Sandoval stabbed him several times in the chest and fled the scene. He was arrested 30 minutes later.
