Winston’s owners Andy Fiscella and Chris Huvane are giving Santa Monica Boulevard the royal treatment. The duo, along with partners Charlie Lew and Matt Lavin, last week opened Crown Bar (7321 Santa Monica Blvd.) just down the street from the still-hot Winston’s. The 3,000-square-foot bar (entrance pictured) is their first to offer food in addition to drinks. Formerly Tempest, Crown Bar “differs from Winston’s with a more mature design and food element,” says Fiscella. However, like Winston’s, Crown Bar will “have our same stamp of ‘neighborhood bar’ with our entertainment industry support.” The 149-capacity venue has already been stamped by celebrities, with the likes of Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Duran Duran’s Simon LeBon having stopped by Monday for a Cinco de Mayo bash. Fiscella describes his new venue (designed by Gavin Brodin) as a “1940s old-school bar,” with studded ottomans, regal brown leather couches and an octagon-shaped bar. It’s the partners’ third enterprise, counting the Fairfax District bar the Dime. . . . The soundtrack to Echo Park -- Motown? You’d think so from the robust crowds recently at Super Soul Sundays at the Short Stop, where DJs Dia Becker and Jennifer Tefft (the Spaceland booker) are filling the dance floor by spinning vintage soul. . . . Finally, Hollywood club Basque was destroyed in a fire ON April 30. No word yet on plans to re-open the venue (formerly Deep), located in a historic building at Hollywood and Vine (and once a Brown Derby).
