State recalculates school ratings
State officials Wednesday released their annual recalculation of school ratings on California’s Academic Performance Index, which rates all schools on a scale of 200 to 1,000.
The numbers just released are not based on a new round of testing. Instead, the numbers are derived to create an improvement target for every school. The most useful information for parents are two, 1-to-10 scale rankings for each school. The rankings compare the children’s school to all California public schools and to those schools that are most “similar” in terms of the kinds of students served.
