One vote for the system

Re “Election czar’s to-do list includes reforms,” Nov. 10
The article indicates that Dean Logan, Los Angeles County’s registrar-recorder, wants to replace the county’s “much-maligned” InkaVote system, though no reason is given other than a vague reference to “improving the democratic process.” As a longtime election clerk and inspector, I sincerely hope that he reconsiders.
InkaVote is efficient, simple to demonstrate and use, and lets voters see exactly how they are casting their ballots. Every time I see a report of electronic voting machines “flipping” votes or having other problems, I’m grateful for our system.
