Mileage deduction: A Nov. 10 article in the Business section about how to deduct from income taxes the costs of using a car for business purposes said the standard mileage rate for 2008 was 50.5 cents a mile. That rate applied during the first half of 2008, but the rate went up to 58.5 cents for July to December 2008.
