After reading Matthew DeBord’s article, I almost started crying. Poor guy, why must life be so hard on this proponent of gentrification? Why can’t all those taco and churro-eating people just go away?
Matthew, from those of us who were born, raised and have toughed it out in northeast L.A.: Welcome to the real world. If you could muster the courage to meet your brown neighbors, you’d find that they are not the monsters you believe them to be. They are just like you, Matthew; all they want is the best for their children and to live in peace. One more thing: Sorry, we aren’t going anywhere.
