Seth Green goes to the lark side

Seth Green and the other makers of the Emmy-winning spoof show “Robot Chicken” -- part of the “Adult Swim” programming block on Cartoon Network -- cover a lot of pop-culture ground with their puppet parodies, but there is no target that brings out their best quite like the Jedi universe.

“When we do ‘Star Wars,’ it does seem to really work so well and I think it’s because everyone is so familiar with the mythology, it’s universal, everyone instantly connects and also there’s also a lot there to have fun with, in our very loving and slightly weird way,” the actor, writer and producer said. “And when it’s ‘Star Wars’ we’re always swinging for the fences.”

The new season of “Chicken” (a show that Green co-created with Matthew Senreich) starts Dec. 7, and it comes on the heels of this month’s “Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II” special, which once again roasted the famed space opera with skits such as an Imperial storm-trooper’s dragging his kid into battle on Take Your Daughter to Work Day. “Chicken” has become a popular stop for celebrities willing to play along; the “Star Wars” special, for instance, featured Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams and Seth MacFarlane.

No guest star in the three-year history of “Chicken” caused a bigger stir than George Lucas, who went a long way in warming up his public persona by lampooning himself. Green is a frequent visitor to Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch and portrays the character Kit Fisto in the animated series “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” on Cartoon Network. He said he knew that the rap on Lucas was the film wizard liked ideas more than people. “I think that might be true,” Green said. “But there’s the side to him that people don’t get to see.”
