The Honduran government said a U.S. hotelier was kidnapped by gunmen but his young son escaped. Security Vice Minister Mario Perdomo said Thomas Jacobson, 55, was abducted Saturday and forced into a car in the parking lot of his Gran Hotel Sula on the Atlantic coast.
Four gunmen accosted Jacobson while he was getting into his car. Gran Hotel Sula officials said the family would not comment.
Jacobson has lived in Honduras for 15 years. The government did not give his hometown in the United States.
