Minnesota 11, at Detroit 0: Carl Pavano (10-8) gave up five hits over seven innings in his debut for the Twins, Denard Span was five for five, Joe Mauer homered and drove in three runs and Minnesota moved to within 4 1/2 games of the first-place Tigers in the Central Division.

at Chicago 8, Cleveland 5: Jim Thome hit a two-run home run, his 562nd, and Gordon Beckham had a go-ahead sacrifice fly in the sixth inning to help the White Sox rally from a three-run deficit.

Tampa Bay 10, at Seattle 4: Evan Longoria ended a 3-3 tie with a 411-foot home run and Carlos Pena hit a two-run shot. It was Pena’s 28th home run and Longoria’s 24th.

at Kansas City 12, Oakland 6: Zack Greinke (11-7) earned his first win over an American League club since May 26, and Mike Jacobs and Billy Butler each drove in three runs for the Royals.

at Toronto 3, Baltimore 2 (10 innings): Adam Lind hit a one-out double in the 10th inning to drive in the winning run and help the Blue Jays end a skid at three games.

at Angels 3, Texas 2: Jered Weaver struck out 11 Rangers.
