David Beckham’s return didn’t result in any goals for the Galaxy, which played to a 0-0 tie with D.C. United on Saturday night.

The Galaxy (8-4-11) is 4-0-2 in its last six road games. D.C. United (6-5-11) is 5-0-5 at RFK Stadium.

Beckham was back on the field after serving a one-game suspension for a red card received Aug. 15 against Seattle. But the Galaxy couldn’t find the net in soggy conditions on the same field where Beckham made his Major League Soccer debut Aug. 9, 2007.

Beckham made his presence felt almost immediately. A long, curling pass from the right side into the center of the penalty box had to be punched away in traffic by goalkeeper Josh Wicks in the fourth minute.

Both teams had scoring chances. Eddie Lewis’ shot from the top of the penalty area was knocked away by defender Bryan Namoff in the 41st minute.

Galaxy goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts leaped and pushed Santino Quaranta’s shot over the bar in the 37th minute, and made a save on Namoff’s header one minute later on a corner kick.
