Sam Farmer’s Monday NFL film review

A common postgame response to questions after NFL games is, “I have to wait to see the film.” Times NFL writer Sam Farmer sorts through the best of Monday’s film review:

::

Tom Brady, Patriots quarterback, in the wake of New England’s third loss in four games:

“I think we’ve got to find a way to play better football for 60 minutes, in all phases, and everyone has got to focus on what they need to do better. I think that’s the most important thing: being mentally tough to overcome adversity. When things don’t go your way, you have to fight back. That’s a challenge for all of us. I think at times we do, and at times I don’t think we fight very hard.”

::

Mike Tomlin, Pittsburgh’s coach, whose team lost at home to the Raiders on Sunday, the Steelers’ fourth consecutive defeat:

“It’s appropriate at this point to acknowledge we have an undesirable pattern of behavior, which produces a series of outcomes that are not what we’re looking for.”

::

Tony Romo, Dallas quarterback, whose team has gone 5-9 in December with him at quarterback:

“We don’t care about December talk. The season will be written when it’s over with, no matter what happens in December. I know that’s part of it until we win in December, but I just think this team needs to win.”

::

Chris Crocker, Cincinnati safety, in the wake of the Bengals’ sputtering offensive performance in a 23-13 victory at Detroit:

“I just hope when we need ‘em, the offense is there. We’re not disappointed in them by any means. We’ve got a $100-million quarterback, [ Cedric Benson] is running the ball as good as anybody, we have two wide receivers who’ve been to the Pro Bowl. In the big picture, we’re right where we want to be. When we hit the postseason, I hope they’ll be clicking.”

::

Darnell Dockett, Arizona defensive lineman, after a 30-17 pounding of Minnesota in which Brett Favre was intercepted twice:

“Yeah, but that bad thing about today is I’m anxious to watch the news, because I’m pretty sure everybody’s going to talk about what Brett Favre did wrong . . . not about how our defense stood up.”
