Lawrence Hill matched his career high with 25 points and Stanford spoiled former coach Mike Montgomery’s return to Maples Pavilion with a 75-69 victory over No. 22 California on Saturday night at Palo Alto.

The Cardinal’s big win in the season’s first meeting for Bay Area bragging rights ended Cal’s nine-game winning streak and also might have knocked the Golden Bears out of the top 25 after they got back into the poll for the first time since 2003.

Anthony Goods scored 19 points and Landry Fields had 15 points, five rebounds and two blocks for Stanford (12-3, 2-3). Jamal Boykin scored a career-high 22 points for Cal (15-3, 4-1).

Washington State 74, Oregon 62: Taylor Rochestie scored a career-high 30 points, center Aron Baynes had 19 points and 12 rebounds and the Cougars (11-6, 3-2) won at Eugene, Ore.

Rochestie made only five of 13 shots, but he made all 16 of his free-throw attempts. The Cougars were perfect from the foul line (28 for 28).

Tajuan Porter and LeKendric Longmire each scored 15 to lead the Ducks (6-12, 0-6), who played the last 12 minutes without Coach Ernie Kent after he was ejected for the first time in his 12 seasons at Oregon for picking up two technical fouls two minutes apart.

Washington 85, Oregon State 59: Jon Brockman had 16 points and nine rebounds for Washington as the Huskies took charge in the second half at Corvallis, Ore.

Washington (13-4, 4-1) went on a 30-15 run against Oregon State (6-10, 1-5) in the first 10 minutes of the second half.
