Military deaths

The Defense Department last week identified the following American military personnel who died in Afghanistan and Iraq, or who died of their injuries at a military hospital:

Roger L. Adams Jr., 36, of Jacksonville, N.C.; sergeant, Army National Guard. Adams was among four guardsmen killed Monday when a roadside bomb exploded near their vehicle in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 120th Combined Arms Battalion in Wilmington, N.C.

Juan C. Baldeosingh, 30, of Newport, N.C.; sergeant, Army National Guard. Baldeosingh was among four guardsmen killed Monday when a roadside bomb exploded near their vehicle in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 120th Combined Arms Battalion in Wilmington, N.C.

Robert L. Bittiker, 39, of Jacksonville, N.C.; specialist, Army National Guard. Bittiker was among four guardsmen killed Monday when a roadside bomb exploded near their vehicle in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 120th Combined Arms Battalion in Wilmington, N.C.

Peter K. Cross, 20, of Saginaw, Texas; private first class, Army. Cross was killed June 26 in a vehicle rollover at Combat Outpost Carwile in Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) at Ft. Drum, N.Y.

Timothy A. David, 28, of Gladwin, Mich.; staff sergeant, Army. David died June 28 in Sadr City, Iraq, of injuries suffered when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Steven T. Drees, 19, of Peshtigo, Wis.; private, Army. Drees died June 28 at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany of injuries suffered June 24 when he was shot in the head during an ambush by insurgents who attacked his unit with small-arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades in eastern Afghanistan’s Kunar province, on the Pakistani border. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division at Ft. Carson, Colo.

Edward C. Kramer, 39, of Wilmington, N.C.; sergeant first class, Army National Guard. Kramer was among four guardsmen killed Monday when a roadside bomb exploded near their vehicle in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 120th Combined Arms Battalion in Wilmington, N.C.

Terry J. Lynch, 22, of Shepherd, Mont.; sergeant, Army. Lynch was killed Monday when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle in central Afghanistan’s Wardak province, southwest of Kabul. He was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 71st Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) at Ft. Drum, N.Y.
