Why did Paulson get a free hand?
Re: “Paulson takes heat for role in bailouts,” July 17:
I don’t suppose anyone in Washington considered telling Paulson before he distributed the billions of taxpayer dollars to his cronies, “Hey, this money is for loans, not for banks to buy other banks, not for the CEOs and CFOs to jack up their retirement shares.” Nah, I did not think so.
