Walking tall on Yosemite trail

Share

Regarding “Yosemite Hike Makes You Feel 2,425 Feet Tall” [May 31] by Mike Morris: I have begun the hike twice in the past year with my three boys and have yet to complete it. We made it to Columbia Rock in June 2008 but turned around because of the excessive heat (90-plus degrees) and insufficient water.

This year, we were snowed on, rained on and surprised by a bear at Columbia Rock. Even with adequate supplies and clothing, two of the boys headed back down the trail with my wife.

I continued on with one of my 9-year-old twins for another half-mile. The view was fantastic!

I’ve promised my “hiker” that I will do the entire walk with him the next time we go to Yosemite.
