MINEOLA, N.Y. — A former high school teacher, sentenced a day earlier for having sex with a 16-year-old student, was arrested Saturday on suspicion of violating a restraining order by sending him letters.
Heather Kennedy, 27, was released on bail Saturday.
Nassau County authorities, explaining the new charges, said they learned late Friday that she wrote the boy three letters from jail last summer.
A court had ordered her to avoid contact with the boy.
She had pleaded guilty to third-degree rape and other sexual offenses. She had been jailed since July because, while awaiting sentencing, she and the boy had several encounters despite the restraining order.
On Friday, she was sentenced to six months and freed, credited with time served.
