A former bookkeeper for Girl Scout troops in Solana Beach and Rancho Santa Fe was sentenced Monday to 30 days in jail and three years’ probation after pleading guilty to stealing $13,000 from the Scouts’ cookie sales and other funds.

Janet Daily, 36, was taken into custody immediately after being sentenced in Vista Superior Court. The theft was discovered after Daily announced in November she was leaving the volunteer post and moving out of state.

Daily brought a check to court in restitution for the theft. She told Judge Robert Kearney that she had planned to pay back the money before the theft was discovered. Daily pleaded guilty to felony embezzlement.
