The lengths to which companies in the travel industry will go to attract customers apparently know no bounds. The latest jaw dropper comes from San Francisco’s Orchard Hotel (665 Bush St.) and Orchard Garden Hotel (466 Bush St.), which tout themselves as “green boutique hotels.”

The deal: They’re charging $1 per room per night ($1.16 after taxes) throughout April. Rooms at these hotels usually go for $159 a night. To cash in on this hotel deal, book your room at 10 a.m. April 1 and use the promo code “Fool!” Caveat: Only one “foolish” room is allowed per reservation, and when the 60 allotted rooms have been sold, the package will be closed. The Orchard Hotel is between Union Square and Nob Hill, with great access to Chinatown. The Orchard Garden Hotel, the first hotel to earn the coveted Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for New Construction, or LEED-NC, certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, is in the financial district.
