CALIFORNIA BRIEFING / LOS ANGELES

Share

A man who was framed, shot and paralyzed by Los Angeles police has reached a tentative settlement in his lawsuit against the county.

Court records filed April 16 mentioned the agreement but gave no details. County supervisors must approve the deal.

Javier Ovando was framed and wounded by two LAPD officers in 1996, then spent 2 1/2 years in prison for assault before his conviction was overturned. The LAPD officers were later convicted of crimes in the Rampart scandal.
