NATIONAL BRIEFING / TEXAS
A mother of nine who was arrested after authorities found a dead fetus stored in the refrigerator of her trash-strewn home was convicted of child injury and child endangerment.
Jurors deliberated 32 minutes before finding Gloria Ramirez, 28, guilty of one count of injury to a child and six counts of child endangerment.
Police arrived at Ramirez’s home in 2007 after her husband asked a funeral home about a casket for a miscarried fetus. They found rodents, roaches, dirty diapers, moldy food and the fetus inside a white baby-wipes box in the refrigerator.
