Update: The Sol’s Abner Rogers will not be the first Women’s Professional Soccer coach to be ousted, not that that was ever likely. On Thursday, Ian Sawyers, the husband of U.S. world champion and Olympic gold-medal winner Julie Foudy, was dismissed by Sky Blue FC after the last-place New Jersey team started out 1-4-2, including two losses to the Sol. Meanwhile, Rogers’ team is in first place, six points ahead of Boston. The Sol will be without playmaking midfielder Aly Wagner because of a groin strain, and defender Brittany Bock is listed as questionable because of a bruised heel. St. Louis lost its first two games but is on a four-game unbeaten streak. The game is not part of a doubleheader, and only Sol fans with Galaxy tickets will be allowed to remain in the stadium for the Galaxy-Kansas City MLS match that follows at 7:30.
