Previews by August Brown The Happy Hollows One of Silver Lake’s perennial almost-made-it indie rock acts wraps up its November residency at Spaceland, showcasing the spiraling post-punk guitar work and breakneck rhythms on the new full-length “Spells,” all led by the feral charisma of frontwoman Sarah Negahdari. Spaceland, 1717 Silver Lake Blvd., Silver Lake. Mon., 8 p.m. Free. (323) 661-4380.
Vic Chesnutt The singer-songwriter has capped a long and fruitful career with some of his best work yet on two collaborations with Guy Picciotto of Fugazi and members of Godspeed You! Black Emperor. “At the Cut” is equally doom-laden with dissonant guitars and lovingly composed with country-rock harmonies, all strung with Chesnutt’s bone-dry wit. Echoplex (below the Echo), 1152 Glendale Blvd., Echo Park. Tue., 7:30 p.m. $15. (213) 413-8200.
Nite Jewel / Pocahaunted Two of the leading lights of L.A.’s avant-garde and noisy fringes come together for a bewitching double bill. Nite Jewel plays a stoned-out disco that’s as slapdash and winking as it is sonically inviting and surprisingly hooky; Pocahaunted sends lasers of raw noise and unexpectedly tender vocals right to your spine. Gallery 1018, 1018 Santa Fe Ave., Los Angeles. Fri., 9 p.m. $10. (310) 923-0660.
KIIS Jingle Ball The annual master class in what The Kids are into comes back around with headlining performances by country-pop crossover Taylor Swift, sassy R&B spitfire Keri Hilson and a bevy of singles-heavy artists, such as Jay Sean, Jason Derulo and LMFAO. Nokia Theatre, 777 Chick Hearn Court, L.A. Sat., 7 p.m. $80.25-$150.25. (213) 763-6000.
