A state assemblyman who resigned after bragging of sex with a woman later identified as a lobbyist was treated by other lobbying groups to dinners and receptions with tabs totaling $486 this year, he disclosed to the state’s ethics watchdog agency.

Michael Duvall, a Republican from Yorba Linda, was required to disclose all gifts to the state Fair Political Practices Commission 30 days after his Sept. 9 resignation. He reported no gifts from the utility lobbyist with whom he claimed to have had a sexual relationship in comments that were inadvertently videotaped and made public.

Duvall reported dinner and reception tabs were picked up by six groups he identified as engaging in lobbying: Pacific Gas and Electric, the California Tribal Business Alliance, the American Council of Engineering Companies, the California Cable and Telecommunications Assn., the Pacific Water Quality Assn. and the law firm of Nielsen, Merksamer, Parrinello, Mueller & Naylor, whose clients include PG&E.;

The lobbyist with whom Duvall claimed a relationship reportedly works for Sempra Energy, the parent firm of Southern California Gas Co., and Duvall was vice chairman of the Assembly utilities committee. The FBI has been talking to some of Duvall’s former aides to determine whether there is sufficient evidence of wrongdoing to warrant an investigation. Duvall said after he quit that his comments were not an admission of an affair and that instead he admits to “inappropriate storytelling.” The lobbyist has denied Duvall’s claims.
