Mapping her Wonderland

As power couples go, Shereen Arazm and Oren Koules are downright steroidal. She’s a club/restaurant maven who owns or co-owns L.A. hotspots Terroni, Geisha House, Bella and her latest creation, Wonderland. He’s a producer of the “Saw” film franchise and CBS’ “Two and a Half Men” and co-owns the Tampa Bay Lightning hockey team. Whew.

But as Shereen can tell you, even power couples need time off the grid. Read on.

Girls will be girls

On Friday nights, my husband is usually busy on the set of his show, so I try to make it a girls’ night out with friends. I like to get out of Hollywood since I’m there so much, and one of my favorite restaurants is Il Piccolo in Venice. It’s high-end Italian dining, with a great wine list and really good food. I like the lamb carpaccio and truffle pasta. I don’t put any dietary restrictions on myself on Fridays, and it’s fun to dress up and celebrate the food.

On the way home, our new routine is to stop off at Wonderland for a little Champagne and dancing. You know, just kind of pretending to be single. Hey, it’s girls’ night out!

An early start

On Saturday, I like to go to Hugo’s on Santa Monica. An awesome breakfast place -- the food and the people are great. We have a 1 1/2 -year-old daughter named Sam, and they’re so cool with her. She loves the banana pancakes, I like the eggs Benedict, and my husband will order the tofu scramble or breakfast salad.

After that, I love to go furniture shopping. L.A. is one of the real up-and-coming cities in the design world, and I love to go to places like Blackman Cruz on Highland, and Minotti and Diva on Beverly Boulevard. Oh, and there’s this really cool vintage-y kind of place on Pico called Pico Modern. I’m always looking for something.

Every Saturday night, I organize a dinner party upstairs in the new private room at Terroni called the Wine Library because it’s lined with rows of wine. I try to invite a really cool, eclectic group of people from the worlds of sports, entertainment, fashion, service industry, all around. The room holds about 25, but I try to keep it between 12 and 20. It’s always a fun night with great conversation.

Animals and geishas

I get up early on Sundays and take my daughter to the Studio City farmers market. It’s the greatest place to take your kids because it’s got a petting zoo with baby ducks, pigs, chickens and bunnies, and there’s pony rides and a Thomas the Tank Engine too. And while you’re there, you can buy all your organic fruits and vegetables for the week from the local farmers. By the time we’re finished, it’s nap time.

On Sunday nights, we’ll all go for an early dinner to Geisha House, before the rush. The robata is her favorite, the different skewers, and we’re sushi fanatics. My daughter just loves to watch the geisha girls walk around all dressed up with their fans. It’s just like a costume party to her.
