Supporting local artists

Share

Mindful Nest, a new Burbank store devoted to affordable, contemporary crafts, was designed to be a mindful way to shop. “We support local artists and small American companies,” says Amanda Vernon, who operates the shop with Diane Jackson and Jennifer Hardaway. “We buy directly from artists who speak to us.” The sunny store opened this summer with a mission to steer clear of disposable consumer products made overseas. Instead, Mindful Nest features works by more than 100 artists who hand-make jewelry, pottery and prints. Hardaway’s Klean line of natural body and bath products are part of the mix. One bonus: Shoppers can create their own scented candles, diffusers and room sprays at the fragrance-blending bar in back. 3319 W. Magnolia Blvd.; (818) 840-0123; www.mindfulnest.net.
