Galaxy today

VS. SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES

When: 1 p.m.

Where: Buck Shaw Stadium, Santa Clara.

On the air: TV: FSW, TeleFutura. Radio: 1150, 1330.

Records: Galaxy 13-3-4. Earthquakes 7-6-5.

Update: Only a last-minute goal by Landon Donovan spared the Galaxy from a loss the last time the teams met. That 2-2 result in Carson in July served notice that Los Angeles should not take the Earthquakes lightly, even though San Jose’s first designated player, Brazilian midfielder Geovanni, formerly of Barcelona and Benfica, is unavailable while awaiting the paperwork on his international transfer to clear. Seventeen points separate the first-place Galaxy from the sixth-place Earthquakes in the MLS Western Conference. Goalkeeper Jon Busch will start in the nets for San Jose after Joe Cannon broke his left ankle. The Galaxy has won seven games on the road this season, six of them by a shutout. Starting left back Todd Dunivant is listed as questionable because of neck spasms. The first goal could decide it. Los Angeles is 13-0 when scoring first and San Jose is 6-0-2 when taking the lead.
