Paris Hilton booked on drug possession charge in Las Vegas

Paris Hilton was booked into jail and then released after Las Vegas police arrested the socialite for allegedly having cocaine in her purse Friday night.

The Las Vegas Police Department has released few details about the case. But a police official told CNN she was riding in a black Cadillac Escalade near the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel when police smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle and pulled it over. Both Hilton and the driver were arrested.

They were arrested several days after an intruder armed with two knives tried to break into Hilton’s Sherman Oaks home.

Nathan Lee Parada, 31, was charged Thursday with a felony count of attempted residential burglary. He is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.

The break-in attempt happened at 6 a.m. Tuesday when Parada allegedly approached Hilton’s home in the gated Mulholland Estates community. After banging on the door, he was confronted by Hilton’s boyfriend, who was inside the house, police said.

Hilton posted a message on Twitter alleging that a man with two large knives was trying to break in. She posted a photo showing the alleged suspect in handcuffs with his back to the camera.

“So Scary, just got woken up to a guy trying to break into my house holding 2 big knifes,” Hilton tweeted.

During the World Cup this summer in South Africa, Hilton was taken into custody on suspicion of possessing marijuana, but the case was quickly dropped.

It’s unclear when Las Vegas prosecutors will decide whether to charge Hilton in the cocaine case.
