POP MUSIC

Summer Darling The first act to release a physical full-length on the in-house label of beloved Echo Park hipster Origami Vinyl, the band earns its comparisons to the fringier elements of Neil Young and such thoughtful ‘90s punk as Fugazi and Shudder to Think. The band holds down the July residency at Spaceland, this time with the Radiohead-addled rockers Cue the Moon. Spaceland, 1717 Silver Lake Blvd., L.A. 8 p.m. Free. www.clubspaceland.com.

Kings of Leon The scruffy Southern rockers were on no one’s short list to become the dominant voice of guitar-based music in 2010. Yet here we are, with the quartet ruling the charts and minds of pop radio and frat bro-downs alike. We challenge anyone, absolutely anyone, to not hoist their beer when “Use Somebody” rings off the Cahuenga pass. Hollywood Bowl, 2301 N. Highland Ave., Hollywood. 7:30 p.m. $32.50-$69.50. (323) 850-2000.

Mississippi Man The blues and folk-infused five-piece from Orange County, which draws influences that range from the Beatles to Jack Kerouac, continues its July residency at the Echo. Supported by Fullerton’s psych-flavored Dahga Bloom. The Echo, 1822 Sunset Blvd., Echo Park. 8:30 p.m. Free. (213) 413-8200. www.attheecho.com.

MOVIES

A Voyage of Growth and Discovery Baby Ikki, the enigmatic, diaper-clad alter ego of artist Michael Smith (age 59), would look out of place almost anywhere — except at Burning Man, the psychedelic summer festival held in the Nevada desert. Amid the spectacle, Ikki’s adventures at Burning Man, captured in this 90-minute film by Smith and collaborator Mike Kelley, manage to be adroit and thought-provoking. Smith and Kelley will be on hand to discuss the project. REDCAT, 631 W. 2nd St., L.A. 8:30 p.m. $9. (213) 237-2800. https://www.redcat.org.
