The Defense Department last week identified the following American military personnel killed in Iraq and Afghanistan, or who died at a military hospital of their injuries:

Anthony A. Dilisio, 20, of Macomb, Mich.; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Dilisio was killed in combat May 30 in southern Afghanistan’s Helmand province, on the Pakistani border. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Francisco J. Guardado-Ramirez, 21, of Sunland Park, N.M.; private, Army. Guardado-Ramirez was killed Wednesday in a noncombat-related vehicle accident in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 41st Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division at Ft. Stewart, Ga.

Jonathan K. Peney, 22, of Marietta, Ga.; specialist, Army. Peney was shot and killed Tuesday while trying to provide medical aid to a wounded soldier in southern Afghanistan’s Kandahar province, on the Pakistani border. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment at Hunter Army Airfield, Ga.

Alvaro R. Regalado Sessarego, 37, of Virginia Beach, Va.; private first class, Army. Sessarego died May 30 at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio of injuries suffered April 18 when he was severely burned in a mess hall fire in Dahuk, Iraq, north of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 36th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division at Ft. Bliss, Texas.

Jake W. Suter, 18, of Stevenson Ranch; private first class, Marine Corps. Suter was killed May 29 while supporting combat operations in southern Afghanistan’s Helmand province, on the Pakistani border. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.
