The Movie That Inspired Me David Fincher, celebrated director of “Fight Club” and “Zodiac,” presents George Roy Hill’s William Goldman-scripted “ Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” in this month’s installment of the UCLA Film and Television Archive series. Post-screening, Fincher and series host Curtis Hanson will discuss the lighthearted 1969 chronicle of the notorious leaders of the Hole-in-the-Wall Gang. Urban Ruins, Found MomentsThe filmmaker and preservationist Ross Lipman is like an archaeologist of the recent past, excavating and analyzing the relics of contemporary society. He will present a multimedia program exploring urban decay. In addition to screening short films and selections from his video cycle “The Perfect Heart of Flux,” he will perform “The Cropping of the Spectacle,” a PowerPoint-assisted audiovisual essay. Walter Mosley Following last year’s “The Long Fall,” the prolific author returns with more hard-boiled intrigue parsed by middle-aged ex-boxer and P.I. Leonid McGill in “Known to Evil,” for which Mosley has pulled up the midcentury L.A. stakes of his celebrated Easy Rawlins series, situating McGill in a modern-day parallel universe New York City.
