Update: This is the end of the road as far as the regular season is concerned for the Galaxy. Its next game away from Home Depot Center will be in the first round of the playoffs. Los Angeles has the best road record in the league at 8-3-3, while Philadelphia, in its first season, is 5-2-6 at home. Edson Buddle leads the league in scoring with a career-high 15 goals and is seeking to become only the third Galaxy player after Carlos Ruiz in 2002 and Landon Donovan in 2008 to finish as the top scorer in MLS. Los Angeles defeated the Union, 3-1, in Carson on May 1. With three games remaining in the regular season, if the positions in the Western Conference remain unchanged, the Galaxy would play the Seattle Sounders in a home-and-home series in the first round of the playoffs. The Sounders on Tuesday night won the U.S. Open Cup for the second year in a row, defeating the Columbus Crew, 2-1, in the final in front of a record crowd of 31,311 at Seattle.
