Arcade Fire One promise that Arcade Fire keeps is crafting an old-fashioned, back-to-front exploration of one topic. In this case, it’s suburbia, the album “The Suburbs’ ” most immediate symbol of complacency. But Arcade Fire’s third album doesn’t seek to condemn; the band knows that whether in a city — its hometown Montreal or here in Los Angeles — or a subdivision outside Houston (where frontman Win Butler grew up), we’re all grasping for meaning. We’re searching in the shadows of the shopping malls that singer and multi-instrumentalist Régine Chassagne observes endlessly rising in “Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains).” Shrine Auditorium, 665 W. Culture Collide Festival Divided among a variety of Silver Lake, Echo Park and downtown venues — including the Echoplex, Spaceland, Taix and 826LA — Filter magazine’s Culture Collide Festival brings some of the best and brightest indie rockers from around the world. Halloween Harvest Festival Join Pierce College in welcoming back Spookley the Square Pumpkin and his hay-stuffed handler Jack the Scarecrow in the pair’s live stage show at the college’s Woodland Hills campus, newly gussied up in its autumnal finest for the annual Halloween Harvest Festival. This year’s festival also boasts a pick-your-own pumpkin patch, hay rides, a corn maze, a haunted house and a haunted trail. Scaredy-cats and fear junkies alike should be advised that, after dark, the festival becomes the FrightFair Scream Park, a souped-up and altogether more terrifying version of itself. O.C. Auto Show The 2011 model O.C. Auto Show kicks off auto-show season with hundreds of new cars, crossovers, exotics and more. This automotive extravaganza will feature SEMA concept cars, pre-production models, rides and drives, and the latest alternative-fuel vehicles, including the 2011 Chevrolet Volt.
