Update: Chivas will finish with a losing record for the first time since its expansion season of 2005, but it can avoid the second last-place finish in franchise history with victories in its last two games. The team isn’t exactly closing with a flourish, however, having lost four of its last five games. The playoff-bound Earthquakes, on the other hand, have lost only twice since August, though the losses came in their last two home games. Regardless of the outcome, Chivas will make history Wednesday when midfielder Paulo Nagamura steps on the field, becoming the MLS leader for games played by a Brazilian with 145. Chivas could be buoyed by the return of forward Justin Braun, who practiced Monday for the first time since suffering a concussion Oct. 9. He is expected to play against San Jose.
