‘Rocky Horror’ to mark 35th anniversary in high style

“Let’s do the Time Warp again .…” If the lyric conjures up a midnight memory of the best sort of freakout, as it does for me, this weekend is a way to truly do the Time Warp again in style at “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” 35th anniversary bash Saturday night at the Million Dollar Theater in downtown L.A. This is no ordinary screening filled with cross-dressing friends (or fiends), but it will feature the fab local “RHPS” “shadowcast” troupe Sins O’ the Flesh in full regalia and even fuller voice — this is, after all, as much about who’s performing in front of the screen as on it. Of course, if cross-dressing isn’t your thing, rest assured that the jeans and T-shirt crowd is equally welcome on planet Transsexual, because if the camp-classic riff on horror movies and outsiders is about anything, it’s inclusion. Tim Curry is certainly at his most memorable if not his absolute best as Dr. Frank-N-Furter, showing the newly engaged couple Brad and Janet (Barry Bostwick and Susan Sarandon) a more flamboyant slice of life. Bostwick will be on hand. But come for the scene and the music — riotous and rich, and there for everyone to sing along.
