Plenty to do on New Year’s Eve: Satellite and Avalon

Share

The Henry Clay People performed on New Year’s Eve at the Satellite last year, and by all accounts it was a Champagne-saturated bacchanal of indie rockers letting their hair down. They’ll reprise it this year with a set to wrap up their December residency, which is celebrating their 10th anniversary as a band. Torches, Kissing Cousins and the Lonely Wild join them, and if your heart still lies with fuzz-blasted rock tunes and stage-diving frontmen, this is where you want to watch the ball drop (or ignore the ball-drop to spray someone with PBR). The Satellite, 1717 Silver Lake Blvd., L.A. 9 p.m. $10. https://www.thesatellitela.com.

There will be no shortage of EDM clubs holding long-form New Year’s Eve parties, but the venerable Avalon might outlast them all. House champ Markus Schulz will spin a 13-hour set (hopefully he’ll have a comfy chair and some meals brought out to him), alongside sets from dubstep maven Skream, Laidback Luke and the Avicii-touted outfit Cazzette all weekend leading up to it. Avalon, 1735 N. Vine St., L.A. tickets at avalonhollywood.com.
