General Motors says it is recalling 18,871 model year 2013 Cadillac SRX luxury crossovers in the U.S. equipped with 18-inch rims to prevent a problem in which the wheel nuts might loosen.

If the wheel nuts are loosened, it could result in a loss of control of the vehicle and increase the likelihood of an accident.

GM says it has received no reports of crashes or injuries related to the problem and hasn’t heard of any cases in which wheels have separated from the vehicles.

In addition to the 18,871 SRX crossovers being recalled in the U.S., there are another 913 vehicles in Canada that have the same problem, GM said.

GM said the SRX owners will be notified and that dealers will “rotate the tires on the recalled vehicles,” and tighten the wheel nuts to their proper specifications.

“Testing has shown this eliminates the condition,” GM said in a statement, adding there will be no charge to the owners.
